Lyric Rachae's name isn't just a name. Rachae is a combination of her parents — her mother Rashidah and her father Chae — and that tells you everything about where she comes from as an artist.

Her father wrote lyrics in composition notebooks. She watched him turn words into worlds and never got over that feeling. Her mother is a creative in every sense — fashion, dance, and now the founder of a multimillion-dollar interior design firm who has designed recording studios and the spaces where culture gets made. She gave Lyric something that shows up in everything she touches: the ability to look at something ordinary and see what it could become. That's how Lyric approaches music.
